Update from the last few days and the Herbert Protocol |

Good Morning
Its been a busy few days for Bakewell Safer Neighbourhood Team including lots of school visits for educational talks, apprehending a suspected shoplifter, attending the Open Door Event at Bakewell Methodist Church and also the Dementia Group Forget-Me-Nots at Bakewell Methodist Church along with foot patrols around Bakewell Town Centre inbetween.
At Forget-Me-Nots they offer valuable support to people diagnosed with dementia and their carers. Its an opportunity for them to take part in activities if they wish to but also to share stories with other carers and get much needed advice and support and every session is different. This week was an opportunity for the group to chat and share stories of when they used to work and one of the gentleman told us about how he used to do calligraphy as a hobby and this is still something he enjoys to do when he can so he gave us a little demonstration as per the photo... We also discussed the Herbert Protocol and how it can help you in an emergency . The Herbert Protocol is a national scheme used by police forces, carers, families, care homes and emergency services to help locate vulnerable people, particularly those living with dementia, who may go missing.
How it works A form is completed in advance containing important information about the person, such as: Physical description and a recent photograph If the person is reported missing, the form can be given to the police immediately. This saves valuable time and helps officers start targeted searches. You can get a copy of the form through our website https://www.derbyshire.police.uk/notices/af/herbert-protocol/ or contact your local PCSO to get a copy to you.
If you would like further details re the Forget-Me-Nots support groups held in Bakewell and Hathersage contact the local co-ordinator Paul Cross for more details. He can be contacted on 07395 369740.
